Many people who buy a treadmill want fast results but don’t know how to see if their treadmill exercises are bringing them the results that they were hoping to see.
Rather than depending on weight loss, which can fluctuate wildly from day-to-day, there are some simple things you can do to see if your treadmill workouts are helping you.
Treadmill Workout Fatigue Doesn’t Last Long
You should expect to feel fatigued by the end of your treadmill workout. The depth of the fatigue will naturally be greater when you start your treadmill exercises. But after time, if you stick to a regular workout schedule, your exhaustion should not last for long after your treadmill exercises.
If your exhaustion level still hasn’t dropped, you may want to dial back on your workout or take a rest day to help lessen the exhaustion you feel.
Energy Levels Are Higher
Along with the after workout fatigue, the start of any new workouts will be exhausting. But after 2-4 weeks of regular exercise, you should have higher energy levels as you go through the day if your body has become adjusted to the workout routine. So, if you are feeling more pep in your step, you can tell that your treadmill exercises are working.
Handrails Are Unnecessary
For those who are new to treadmill workouts and cardio in general, using the treadmill handrails is a natural option. However, by using the handrails, you are cutting down on your exertion which means you will make less progress.
So, if you start out using the handrails and graduate to not using them, that is a great way to determine that you have made some improvements in your fitness.
Treadmill Workouts Are Still Interesting
It may sound funny, but your treadmill workouts should be engaging and not something you dread. It may not be necessarily fun, but you shouldn’t feel bored and should end feeling accomplished.
If you aren’t feeling these things, it may be a sign that you need to rethink some of your workout routines. This change may mean you need to alter what running exercises you are doing or add new types of entertainment to keep you engaged.
